Guatemala 2024

In the spring of 2024, Flaman staff embarked on a humanitarian excursion to Guatemala to work with the local organization called Anadesa, near Santiago on Lake Atitlan. Together, the crew from Anadesa and Flaman staff worked to build the second level of the community centre, with cement blocks, rebar and...a lot of sweat! The team mixed cement by hand, transported thousands of pounds of gravel, sand, cement mixture and cement block up to the second level to help get the second level complete before the rainy season! It was an incredible experience, filled with a whole lot of teamwork, laughter, hard work and sore muscles.

The group went by boat each day from Panajachel to Santiago and spent several days working in the village. At the end of the humanitarian excursion, the group stopped at ruins, climbed a volcano, experienced a shaman cave ritual and spent a day in Antigua learning about the Guatemalan culture and visiting the local markets!

Special thanks to MCC for their partnership and collaboration with Anadesa. Special thanks also to Anadesa for the opportunity to work with your team and support the acheivement of your goals to build a community centre, where you'll offer education classes, programs and opportunity for the families and children in your village.

Special thanks to the Flaman company for providing the opportunity for staff to go on this humanitarian excursion and covering all expenses.  The Flaman Foundation does not pay for any expenses of this or any previous humanitarian excursion.
